After watching An Inconvenient Truth, I felt a strong need to do something about my own role in the climate crisis. I started noticing that I was teaching my kids unsustainable habits, and realized that I needed to prepare them for life in a sustainable society instead. After a lifetime of not doing much beyond recycling, the whole going green thing seemed overwhelming. I needed an entry point, a way to gently get myself up to speed in the company of other people working on the same changes. Enter Going Green Family! I take on the technical aspects of the site and collaborate with Kara on the program structure and content. I worked for many years in web and multimedia development, and have been at home with my two girls, Sadie (4) and Lily (2), and my telecommuting husband, Sean, for the last four years.

I first started "going green" when I married my husband, Jeffrey, who was ahead of the curve in supporting organic farming and environmental activism. Although I adopted many of Jeffrey's green habits over the years, I have always approached "going green" with some hesitation. It wasn't until my affiliation with Going Green Family that I really awakened to how to take it to the next level. I would read about ways to be 'more green', but always felt intimidated by how complicated the process was, and how high the green standards seemed! Now I feel supported by a community of people just like me -- people who want to make changes, but need to be realistic about how quickly they can do it and how much they can take on. I love that I can make a little change and be applauded for it! I'm a stay-at-home mom of three rambunctious children, ages 12, four and two. Prior to having my family, I worked in sales and real estate.
